Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is directed towards identifying the signs and symptoms of mental illness in adolescents and young adults. You will leave this training with a Certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing (as long as all pre and post-work is completed). First-responders, college students, teachers, parents, mentors and others supporting youth are highly encouraged to receive this training and certification.

What Will You Learn?

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance abuse challenges
  • How to interact with a youth in crisis
  • How to connect the youth with help
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying.
