The CORE Academy is an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider (LTP) offering CPR, First Aid, AED, and BLS certifications in Wilkes-Barre, PA. NEPA Workplace Training

We run one combined First Aid, CPR & AED class plus separate BLS and Mental Health First Aid. We do not run a CPR-only or First Aid-only class. The right one depends on your role and what your employer or program requires.

CPR/AED
Certification

For non-clinical roles, teachers, coaches, childcare staff, workplace teams. Covers CPR for adults, children, and infants plus AED use. Taught in our combined First Aid, CPR and AED class. Online coursework plus in-person skills session.

First Aid
Certification

Covers response to injuries and sudden illness. For workplace staff, school employees, and anyone whose requirement lists First Aid. Taught in our combined First Aid, CPR and AED class, which covers all three in one session, course materials included.

Combined
Certification

The broadest non-clinical option. Combines First Aid and CPR & AED into one blended course. This training course is the best value for small and large workplace teams that want comprehensive coverage for their entire workforce with course materials.

BLS
Certification

An ideal training course for Healthcare and patient-care professionals. The course covers team-based CPR, AED, and airway management at the clinical level. This certification isrequired for most nursing, medical assistant, and clinical rotations.

Understanding Requirements

 

First Aid + CPR Certification. The combined option. Covers both CPR and First Aid topics in one class. Often the most efficient choice for workplace teams that need broader coverage.
 
BLS Certification. Basic Life Support, the more advanced certification commonly required in clinical and patient-care settings. Built for nurses, medical assistants, EMS-related roles, and others entering healthcare fields.

The simplest rule: choose the certification that matches what your employer, school, or program asks for. If the requirement says BLS or Basic Life Support, choose BLS. If it says CPR, First Aid, AED, or any combination of those, the combined First Aid, CPR & AED class covers all three in one session. That is the class to take for any of those requirements. Training a Team

For organizations that need multiple staff certified together, we run group certifications either at your location or in our Wilkes-Barre training space. Many of our group certification engagements happen as part of broader training partnerships, where certifications sit alongside leadership development, behavioral management, or HR training. How the Certification Process Works

Every American Red Cross certification at The CORE Academy follows a two-step blended learning format. Both steps are required to earn your certificate.

Core Academy Training Home

STEP 1

American Red Cross online course (complete on your own time).

After registering, you receive access to the American Red Cross online learning module for your certification. It is self-paced – you work through it at home, on your own schedule, before your in-person session. Depending on the certification, this takes between 1.5 and 5 hours. You must complete it before attending the in-person skills session.

STEP 2

In-person skills session at The CORE Academy in Wilkes-Barre.
 
The in-person session is where the certification is earned. You practice every skill on training manikins and AED equipment with a certified Red Cross instructor coaching and correcting in real time. You demonstrate competency, the instructor signs off, and your digital certificate is issued by email. Certifications are valid for 2 years from the completion date. No certificate is issued until both steps are successfully completed.
