Most organizational leaders have heard the phrase “free consultation” and immediately assumed it meant a sales call in disguise. Thirty minutes on the phone, a lot of questions about budget, and a proposal landing in their inbox before the call ends.
That is not what The CORE Academy’s free organizational consultation is. This post explains exactly what it is, how it works, and what you walk away with – because if you have been thinking about it and not reaching out, the barrier is probably a misread of what “free” means here.
The Consultation Is On-Site at Your Location
The first thing to know: we come to you.
This is not a Zoom call or a phone intake. The CORE Academy’s free organizational consultation is an on-site visit. We come to your location, walk through your environment, and meet with your leadership team in person. For schools, nonprofits, healthcare-related organizations, and service providers across Northeast Pennsylvania, this means we are in your building – not looking at your situation from a distance.
The on-site element matters because what an organization needs is rarely visible on paper. The way a room is set up, the way staff move around each other, the dynamic in a leadership meeting – these things tell you something. We pay attention to them.
What We Do During the Consultation
The consultation is structured around three areas. Each one is adjusted based on your organization’s size, stage, and what you have told us is happening.
Organizational Assessment
We start by partnering with your executive leadership to see the full picture of where your organization currently stands. That means talking through where your people are thriving, where the friction is, and where the gaps between where you are and where you want to be are most visible.
We look at organizational culture, communication patterns, team dynamics, workflows, and workforce engagement. The goal is to surface the picture clearly – including the parts leadership may be too close to name – so you have something specific to work with.
At the end of this phase, you have a clearer read on what is actually happening, not just what the org chart says should be happening.
SWOT Analysis
For organizations that want a deeper read of their current position, we facilitate a SWOT analysis. We engage your stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives, identify internal capabilities that are being underutilized, surface the barriers limiting your effectiveness or performance, and look at external opportunities the organization is not yet positioned to capture.
The SWOT process is most valuable when it surfaces things leadership did not already know. Our job is to ask the questions that make that possible. Most leadership teams find that hearing the same observation from outside the organization lands differently than when it comes from inside.
Strategic Recommendations
Once we understand your organization’s current state, we build recommendations that are specific and actionable. Not a vague list of things to work on – a practical, sequenced set of priorities aligned with your workforce capacity and your available resources.
This is where the consultation becomes something you can take to your board, your leadership team, or your funding source. The written assessment and recommendations you receive at the end give you a documented starting point for whatever comes next.
What You Actually Walk Away With
At the end of the consultation, you receive:
– A written summary of our findings
– A set of prioritized recommendations tailored to your organization
– A clear read of what a training or development investment would produce at this stage
– A proposed sequence for any next steps, if you want to move forward
You own the written assessment. You can share it with your board, use it to apply for professional development funding, or bring it to a leadership team that needs to see the picture written down before they can agree on the next step. The document is yours regardless of whether you engage The CORE Academy for anything further.
Is It Really Free? What Is the Catch?
There is no catch. The consultation does not cost you anything and does not obligate you to any engagement.
The CORE Academy believes the right way to begin a consulting relationship is to earn your confidence before you invest in it. We have worked with organizations that had frustrating experiences with consulting firms that over-promised and underdelivered. We have worked with organizations that had never brought in outside support before and were not sure what to expect.
The free consultation removes the barrier. You get a real assessment from the same people who would deliver the work, not a junior associate or a salesperson. If what we find aligns with an engagement you want to move forward on, we scope it together. If it does not, you still walk away with something useful.
We want you to experience the quality of The CORE Academy’s work firsthand before you make any decision. That is the model. It is straightforward.
What Happens After the Consultation
Most organizations do one of three things after the consultation:
Move forward immediately. The recommendations align with what leadership already knew needed to happen, and the consultation gave them the framing and the outside perspective to act on it. We scope an engagement together and set a start date.
Take time to review. The leadership team brings the written assessment to their board, department heads, or funding source. Some organizations use the recommendations to apply for professional development grants or workforce training funding before engaging. This often takes weeks, sometimes a month or two. We stay reachable through that process.
Use the assessment independently. Some organizations take the recommendations and implement what they can internally. That is a legitimate outcome. Our goal was to give you something useful, and if you can move the needle without a formal engagement, the consultation did its job.
The consultation does not create pressure in any direction. It creates clarity. What you do with that clarity is yours to decide.
Who Should Reach Out
The free consultation is designed for organizational leaders who are carrying a question they have not had outside eyes on yet. You do not need to be in crisis. You do not need to have a training program in mind. You need to want a clear picture.
That includes school principals and superintendents whose staff development has been reactive rather than strategic. Executive directors of nonprofits whose culture is strong in mission but inconsistent in practice. HR leaders at healthcare-related organizations whose supervisors were promoted from clinical roles and are now holding management responsibilities they were never developed for. Business owners whose leadership layer is growing faster than their leadership capacity.
If something is not working the way you need it to and you have not been able to name it clearly from inside, reach out.
How to Schedule
Contact The CORE Academy and tell us what is happening. We will arrange a time to come on-site.
The first step is a conversation. The consultation is the second step. There is no commitment required beyond being willing to let outside eyes see what is actually happening inside your organization.
