The CORE Academy's professional training programs cover the work that does not come with a certification at the end. Leadership development. Employee growth. HR and workplace culture. Behavioral management. DSM-5 educational content. Personal development. We deliver these as standalone workshops for individuals and as components of larger consulting engagements for organizations across Northeast Pennsylvania.
Individuals come to The CORE Academy when they want a specific skill sharpened. A teacher who wants leadership tools. A teacher who wants leadership tools, a new supervisor who needs management language, a community worker who wants stronger behavioral response training. We offer professional development as accessible, standalone learning paced for working adults.
Organizations come to us when they want their teams stronger. Most of our organizational work is shaped to the team rather than lifted off a shelf. Many engagements begin with an organizational assessment that scopes the right training before delivery.
For emerging managers, supervisors, and senior leaders building stronger teams and clearer decision frameworks.
Staff growth, communication, and the daily skills that shape how people work together and perform under pressure.
Organizations focused on people practices, culture, and the systems that affect retention, engagement, and workplace experience.
Schools, healthcare-related teams, agencies, and environments where staff respond to high-stress or complex behavioral situations
Professional education on the DSM-5-TR diagnostic framework. For staff in educational, healthcare-related, and social service settings.
Individual skill-building, professional communication, and self-awareness. Standalone or part of an organizational engagement.

For organizations that want training shaped to a specific operating reality, our professional training programs often arrive as part of a larger consulting engagement. The shape of that engagement varies by client, but the structure is consistent.
Discovery & Assessment
The work typically begins with a discovery conversation. Leadership tells us what is happening and what they think the problem is. We listen, ask the questions that surface what might be underneath the stated problem, and propose an assessment scope that fits the situation.
The assessment phase often includes a SWOT analysis, staff interviews, observation of how the team operates, and review of relevant documentation. By the end, leadership has a written read of what is actually happening across the organization, which is often the most valuable single deliverable.
Learn MoreFrom the assessment, we build a strategic plan. The plan scopes the specific training, workshops, and ongoing support sequence that addresses what the assessment surfaced, not a generic catalog of recommendations. The plan is yours regardless of whether you decide to bring us back to deliver it. Most clients say the plan alone was worth the engagement cost.
When you move forward with delivery, the training and development work happens over weeks or months depending on scope. Leadership development for supervisors, employee training across the staff layer, behavioral or DSM-5 workshops where they fit, certifications when the team needs them, and the ongoing coaching that makes the work stick.
Engagements range from a single multi-session workshop tied to a specific challenge to year-long partnerships that span the whole organization.
Get StartedWe do not run cohort programs that staff have to apply to and graduate from. Nor do we sell a generic course catalog and walk away. Instead, we design professional training around what a person or team actually needs, then deliver it hands-on and paced for adult learners. We design professional training around what a person or team actually needs, then deliver it hands-on and paced for adult learners. CORE stands for Creating Opportunities for Reflection & Education. The reflection happens first because real learning starts with understanding what is actually going on.
The CORE Academy is based in Wilkes-Barre on the same campus as The Children’s Service Center of Wyoming Valley and delivers professional training across Northeast Pennsylvania, including the Wyoming Valley, Scranton, Hazleton, and surrounding communities. For organizational engagements, on-site delivery at your location is the norm because that is what training actually looks like when the goal is changing how a team operates rather than handing out certificates. For individual learning, we offer scheduling and access built around a working adult’s calendar.

The practical advantage of choosing a regional training partner over a national L&D vendor or a university-affiliated program shows up in the responsiveness. When you reach out about a leadership cohort or a behavioral training engagement, you get an answer from the same people who will deliver the work, not a sales pipeline three steps removed. Once the engagement starts, the consultant who built the strategic plan with you is the consultant in the room. And if a question comes up between sessions, the response is fast because the team is small and the work is local.
When the engagement starts, the consultant who built the strategic plan with you is the consultant in the room. When a question comes up between sessions, the response is fast because the team is small and the work is local. For schools, nonprofits, and service providers across NEPA, that responsiveness is what turns a vendor relationship into a partnership.
